I travel frequently for work and have stayed at hotels all over the country. The facility itself was clean and well maintained. Here is the problem though- I woke up from a nap and found a bed bug walking across the sheets. I caught it, put it in a bag, and went to the front desk with it. The women working up front originally told me the manager was unavailable and offered to switch my room. I reluctantly agreed and went and gathered my things. I spoke with my coworkers and we all agreed that we would rather take our business elsewhere. When I went back up to the desk and told her we preferred to check out, she immediately got the manager (thought he wasn't there?) who came out and said that he wouldn't refund any of our rooms. He told me that his hotel doesn't have bed bugs and he promised me that we would not be able to find another one in my room. Well, since I had the bug in a bag that I sat on the counter in front of him, I seriously question his statement of not having bugs. He really lost my respect after he told me "you must have brought the bug in with you" and then pointed to the door and suggested I leave. I kindly took his advice and will not be staying at another Quality Inn or affiliated chain at any point in the future. Had he done the right thing and granted a refund for my room I wouldn't be writing this, but being accused of bringing a bed bug into a hotel to attempt to con a free night out of them is pretty low and speaks to the level of customer service that they provide.
The staff was very accommodating. I recently had knee replacement surgery and they were very helpful in keeping me on the first floor.
Hotel itself was as expected: the rooms are standard and comfortable, internet is slow compared to at home but acceptable for light use like email and basic web browsing, and the complimentary breakfast was slightly above the norm. Proximity to food and other shopping was good, some restaurants were within walking distance. The only negative was the check-in and check-out process: check-in took far too long and the staff was a bit rude when checking in my colleagues. Checkout was slow too but seemed to be an issue with the computer system or the staffs proficiency in using it.
Room 105 smell of stale smoke and the toilet whistled while filling back up after flushing. The shower head sprayed more out on the floor than in the shower. The cleaning crew tried coming in the next day hours before checkout time pounding on the door and opening it with their key, happened on 2 different occasions to us. If you stay thete I recommend hanging your do not disturb sign so they don't bust your door down the best thing was the location, close to restaurants and shopping centers.
Nice update. Good breakfast. Check in service can use a boost.
