Great service and great prices! Ate there for the first time today and had the ham, Mac n cheese, and green beans. The ham was great, but the sides weren't very flavorful.
My family comes to the area once or twice a year to visit family and we always go here for a great lunch. We really enjoy going on Fridays for the catfish.
Great food! Turnip greens and cornbread are the best. Will come back !
Of all the places I've been claiming to serve food like mama's or grandma's, this is the first one in a long time that really delivers. My grandma passed three years ago, but eating at Mama's was just like sitting at her table. I happened to have kraut and sausages, green beans, carrots, pickled beets, cole slaw, and mashed potatoes with gravy. Everything was delicious. The beets were wonderful, not to mention pickled in house. It's a small place that can satisfy your craving for home cooking. Luckily I live close enough that I'll be able to go fairly regularly. The only reason for four stars, is they have a limited opening and that does make it difficult with my schedule, but that's the only real downside for me.
I gave this place for stars because the food was actually pretty good. Though the portion sizes are a bit small if you asked me, I had green beans with my meal and there was barely two tablespoons put on the plate. We did get there late and close to closing time but there were still plenty of green beans left in the pan she could have gave us way more than what she did so I was a little disappointed and the portion was actually quite small. The table service was not very good. So if you're okay with food that's pretty good but small portion sizes and so-so table-service this might be okay with you. On the plus side it wasn't overly expensive
